PADI Open Water Diver

PADI Open Water Diver Course

The PADI Open Water Diver Certification is the most widely recognized SCUBA rating in the world, giving you the freedom and knowledge to explore the planets aquatic realm independent of a dive professional.  Where better to earn your PADI Open Water Certification than the beautiful soft coral encrusted reefs of Beqa Lagoon.

PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course Prerequisites:

Anyone in good health, reasonably fit and comfortable in the water can earn the PADI Open Water Certification.  The minimum age requirement is 15 years old; for those under 15 there is the PADI Jr. Open Water Diver Certification available.

PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course Components:

The PADI Open Water Course is separated into 3 components; theory, confined water training and open water dives.

The theory consists of learning the fundamentals of scuba diving by watching the Open Water Course DVD, completing the knowledge development sessions and passing the Open Water Course Exam.

The confined water training is 5 sessions in the swimming pool.  Your Instructor will introduce you to diving equipment and demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary to become proficient in the water.  Once you have mastered the skills in the pool it is time to take your new found knowledge to the ocean.

There are 4 open water dives required for certification as a PADI Open Water Diver.  During the 4 dives you will demonstrate your diving skills to your instructor, but don't worry it's not all skill work; your Instructor will take you on a guided tour of some of the best diving that Fiji has to offer and show you the kaleidoscope of colours that make up the reefs and creatures of Beqa Lagoon.

Upon successful completion of all 3 components of the course, you will have earned the rating of PADI Open Water Diver; valid worldwide, this will allow you to book dive slots, rent equipment or purchase air fills.
